A First For Poplar As Netball Team Pick Up Silver Medals!

Yesterday seven children from year six represented the school at the Netball Borough Finals. We began the competition with a tough game against Wimbledon Park, which we unfortunately lost. However, the team did not get deflated and came back to win our other two group stage games 5-0 and 3-0. After this we went into the quarter finals as the 7th seed. This game was incredibly close, with the score at 2-2 going into extra time. The Poplar team kept their cool and won the game on a golden goal to see them go into the semi finals as the 2nd seed. This match was won 1-0 and we went into our last match to play for the title against Abbotsbury. Both teams played incredibly well and it ultimately tipped in Abbotsbury's favour. The umpire commended us on our great defence during this match. Throughout the tournament the team showed brilliant team spirit and resilience. We are all immensely proud of the children who finished 2nd in the first year the school has ever qualified for the finals!
