Quicksticks Hockey Borough Finals

Sixteen teams from across the borough took part in the event and which consisted of four leagues to start with. We were put into pool B and didn’t get off to the best start, losing our first game 5-2. However with our growth mindset, we didn't give up! We went on to draw the next game and then win our last pool game 7-0 putting us in 2nd place on goal difference.  At this point we had a short break and got to meet Australian hockey play Nathanael Stewart. He gave the children a small master class where he wowed them with some tricks and skills.

They even got an opportunity to get his autograph and have a photo taken with him.

We were eager to get going with the afternoon fixtures and got off to a good start beating our opponents 2-1. We were now in medal winning territory, but had to win our semi-final. We got off to a flying start scoring 2 quick goals in the first half then defending it out in a very tense 2nd half. The Final: for the third year in a row we were up against Bishop Gilpin and for the second year running it finished 0-0 and went to sudden death. It was very tense, nervy and exciting. We started with the centre and went for the attack. A shot was taken but cleared in their area. They came back with a counter attack getting the ball into our box and with one shot they scored. So we didn’t win, but we were very happy with our performance and proud to come back to school with silver medals!!
