More Medals as Poplar rack up the rounders
On Thursday, following their success at the earlier Cluster Competition, a team of Year 5 and 6 pupils attended the Merton Borough Rounders Finals at Raynes Park High School playing fields. The team put in a fantastic performance, dominated their pool with a perfect record, and only narrowly lost the final by one rounder. Well done to the whole team on their second place and silver medals! Everyone involved should be very proud of the skill, athleticism and team-working shown throughout the entire day and it has been great to see the children’s improvement from week to week. Congratulations!
In other sports news: Last Friday evening, Nana and Hugo represented the school at the MSSP Swimming Gala finials. The children had already achieved qualifying for the finals by finishing in the top 6 for their swimming style and age group. It was a very tough competition, with some children swimming the full length (33meters) of the pool in 20 seconds front crawl and 25 seconds backstroke. This was very impressive to watch. Unfortunately we didn’t have any finishers in the top 3 this time, but we are hopeful for next year. If you’re interested in trialling for next year’s team, you now know what times to aim for. In addition, the ability to dive off a block really helped those winners, so get practising!
