Borough Finals Place Up For Grabs At The Year 5/6 Football Competition

On Tuesday 27th November 16 children headed out to represent the school at the Raynes Park Cluster Year 5 and 6 Best Team Football Competition.

It was a wet and windy day but both our A and B team did not let this put them off. The teams were put in to the same group with their first game being against each other. The A team finished victorious on this occasion with a 2-0 win. Both teams went on to play well but unfortunately the B team just could not pull back from their first loss and finished in 9th place overall. However this is not a reflection on the improvements made by the team game after game.

The A team continued with two more wins and a loss. This meant that they had to win or at least draw their next game to qualify in the top 2. They started the game well, but got caught on the attack and the other team got an early goal. We were now on the attack but had to be careful not to get caught out again. With a few scrambles in the box from some spectacular crosses we manged to grab the equaliser a minute before the final whistle. This meant that we finished 2nd in our group and 4th overall on the day, booking a spot at the Borough Finals on Friday 7th December.

I am sure you will join me in wishing the Boys all the best of luck!
