Watch out Tiger Woods

In our first week back after Christmas we were very lucky to be visited by Wimbledon’s Golf Clubs junior development officer Dean. He has been coming in to see our children for the past 4 years to help introduce them to Tri-golf (a child friendly quick points scoring game). During this time Dean helps to pick out gifted and talented players. These children were then selected to attend a Tri Golf after school club run by Mr B Edwards. During this club the children get to learn more about the games involved and help to fine tune some of their skills. Ten children were then selected to represent the school at the Merton competition.

Just before half term, on a very warm and sunny Friday afternoon the children got underway with the competition. They showed great team spirt cheering each other along and helping each other out with some tips and words of advice. It hard to know how well you are doing against other schools as they are all playing games at different times, so they just continued to play their best and await the final results. I am very pleased to say that our Year 3 and 4 children finished in 1st place winning gold medals and a new trophy for the cabinet. The team will now get the very prestigious chance to represent the Borough at the London Youth Games in July.

Well done to all the children involved at the club. To see more photos from the event please click here. If you are interested in finding out more about Tri-golf click here.
