Welcome to Poplar Primary School 

A very warm welcome to the Poplar Primary School website. I am very proud to be the Head Teacher of this wonderful community Primary School. As a parent myself, I know that choosing the right school for our children is a really important decision. Children have been attending Poplar Primary School for over 80 years and we continue to foster a joy of learning which will last for life. Poplar Primary has long been highly regarded in the local area and it remains a popular school.

At Poplar we want all of our children to reach their full potential both academically and socially in a safe and caring environment. As a staff team we are extremely proud that our children are well-rounded, happy children who have the very best start to their academic careers.

Prospective parents often say that they are visiting because of recommendations from friends and neighbours. They also comment on the warm, welcoming and calm atmosphere in the school and the children’s good behaviour and friendliness. We benefit from committed staff, who work well together to ensure Poplar’s continued success. Clubs run every day before school, during lunchtime and after school. The school also has a breakfast and after school club.

We enjoy a high level of parental support and interest and firmly believe that working in partnership with parents helps the children to develop their talents and experience success. Our parents are an integral part of the school; they are welcome to come in and volunteer in the school. The parents also support us in many different ways, including running the school PTA, which enables us to buy extra resources for the school
